Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will be hosting the Schenectady Rotary Club’s 2nd annual Cornhole for a Cause cornhole tournament at the casino’s Event Center on Sunday, July 9. The event, in partnership with the Adirondack Cornhole League (ACL), is to raise funds for the Schenectady Community Schools Initiative to build a new community resource room at William C. Keane Elementary School.
The day-long family-friendly Cornhole for a Cause tournament will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is open to professionals and amateurs alike. Singles and Doubles play will be available in all divisions including Open (advanced), Competitive, Intermediate (social) and Novice. Players will compete for trophies and cash prizes. There will be benefit drawings and auctions and entertainment with DJ Cassius.
The registration fee is $25 for ACL members and $35 for non-members. There is also a $5 door entry fee for players and spectators (children accompanied by an adult are free). Players can pre-register online at the Schenectady Rotary Club webpage here. On-site registration and check-in will start at 9 a.m. and bags will fly at 10 a.m.
The Schenectady Rotary Club’s goal is to raise $25,000 for a new community room at Keane Elementary School. The community room will provide a place for students and their families to spend time together, have meals, do laundry, and have access to clothing closets, food pantries, and mental health services.
