Derek Adams, a local 9-year-old track and field star from Schenectady recently won gold in the AAU Junior Olympics, held in Des Moines, Iowa. Derek beat all other athletes in his division in the 200m event and is currently the fastest 9-year-old in America.
On the morning of September 15, students and staff gathered in the gymnasium at Zoller to witness the official proclamation delivered by Mayor McCarthy to Derek Adams.
